Elementary Science Fair 2018
Clay Elementary Science Fair was held on December 4, 2018, for fourth- and fifth-grade students. Thanks to Mrs. Zuefle, coordinator of the Science Fair, judges for volunteering their time, and the PTC for buying participants Gatti's Pizza for lunch.
The Grand Prize Winner was Drake Bobst - 5th grade.
The fifth-grade winners were 1st Place - Wesley Runyon, 2nd Place - Sophia Craft, 3rd Place - Abi Miller. The fifth grade Honorable Mention winners were Trevin Brooks, Isla Killian, and Cayden McKenzie.
The fourth-grade winners were 1st Place - Lucas Betten, 2nd Place - Caroline Ridenour, 3rd Place - Adrionna Dunton. The fourth grade Honorable Mention winners were Ella Runyon, Addie Willis, and Caden Davis. Congratulations to all participants for your hard work preparing great Science Fair Projects!
Fall Fundraiser
Clay Elementary students raised almost $12,000 in profit by selling cookie dough and magazines this fall. Money raised is used for field trips, school supplies, incentives, rewards, trophies, and other needed items during the school year. Congratulations to all students who sold items this fall. The Top Seller, selling 128 items, was Adrianna Dunton; and she won a $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card. Students who sold won prizes from a prize chart as well as additional added incentives including:
Shoes that Fit

Thanks to Chad Monroe and "Shoes That Fit" for donating 50 pairs of shoes for students in grades Preschool - 11th who needed them. Clay Local School District is very appreciative to all the businesses that made donations or helped raise the money to purchase the shoes.
Portsmouth Ambulance and Portsmouth Motorcycle Club Donates Thanksgiving Dinners

Portsmouth Ambulance and Portsmouth Motorcycle Club donated Thanksgiving dinners to households from 13 different schools in the area, including a Clay Elementary Family. They will also be providing a special evening with Santa for these families in December. We are so thankful and grateful for the donations from Portsmouth Ambulance and Portsmouth Motorcycle Club.
Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is October 8th-12th. Our K-5 students participated in the fire prevention poster contest theme "Look, Listen, Learn; Be Aware - A Fire Can Start Anywhere."
Congratulations to the third, second, and first place winners in each grade level and to the overall winners for grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Thanks to Kyle, Gabe, and Mike of the Rosemount Fire Department for teaching us about fire safety and for telling us about their fire trucks and equipment.
