Long-time Clay Educator, Nora Horsley, Passes

NORA HORSLEY

RUBYVILLE — Nora Christine Horsley, 84, of Rubyville, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at her son's residence. Born April 30, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph Ainsley and Carrie Florence Barnes Benner, she was a teacher for 31 years the last 28 of which were spent with the Clay Local School District. She graduated from Ohio University and was a lifetime member of Christ's Brethren Church in Rubyville.

Blackburn & CLSD Receive Auditor's Award

Brandi Blackburn and the Clay Local School District received the Auditor of State Award for excellent record keeping and a clean audit report.

The Auditor of the State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon completion of a financial audit. 

Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a "clean" audit report: timely filing of financial reports; does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, etc.; & entities management letter contains no comments related to ethics references, questioned costs, lack of timely submissions, reconciliation, public meetings records, etc.

New Student Registration, 2018-19

The Clay Local School District will have its annual new student registration on August 9, 2018, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM for the 2018-19 school year.

Please bring the following to registration:

  • a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate,
  • a copy of the child’s Social Security Card,
  • a copy of the child’s Immunization Record, 
  • copy of the most recent custody papers (if applicable), and
  • a copy of any IEP or 504 Plan (if applicable).
