Dear Parent/Guardians,

 

Today, we learned of an extremely sorrowful and unfortunate occurrence.  Mrs. Geralyn White, a 4th-grade teacher in the Clay School District, passed away following a short battle with metastatic breast cancer.  Mrs. White was the wife of Kelly White, the mother of Mallory Fitch and Tara McClary, and the grandmother of first-grade student Lucas McClary.

 

We are all deeply saddened by the news of this tragic event and it has prompted several classroom discussions. Although our students handled the situation the best they could, we wanted you to be informed so you will know the facts and be better able to talk with your son/daughter.  Your child may express concern to you about what happened. This concern may be shared today, next week, or even later. The best way you can help your child is to listen and be reassuring.

 

We have assembled a team of social workers, school counselors, and psychologist that will be available for students to talk with about their concerns regarding this incident.
