Four Clay Student-Athletes Attend OHSAA Leadership Conference

Lexie Gilliland (12), Gabby Hickman (11), Zack Phillips (12), and Matt Smith (12) attended the annual Ohio High School Athletic Association Leadership Conference on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the OSU Student Union in Columbus, Ohio.  Approximately 1,500 student-athletes from around the state of Ohio attended the conference.

The OHSAA Leadership Conference is sponsored by the OHSAA Foundation, the OHSAA, and the six individual district boards.  The conference included information on the qualities of leadership, personal accountability, thinking like an athlete, leadership development, ingredients of success, Maria's Message, and community service.

Speakers and guests included Dr. Dan Ross, Commissioner of the OHSAA; Butch Reynolds, an Olympic Gold Medalist; Jerome Singleton, Jr., an Olympic Gold Medalist; Jacki Windon, a college basketball coach; Gary "Doc" Sailes, an award-winning professor (Indiana University) for the development of successful leaders; Carmen Stewart, a personal instructor and fitness trainer; Dom Tiberi, WBNS 10-TV sportscaster; and Harvey Alston (host), an award-winning motivational speaker.
