Redding, who checks in at 6-feet-tall played primarily center in her career and averaged 16.1 points per game during her senior campaign.

At the next level, the First-Team SOC selection will move to the power-forward position. Even though Redding is the reigning SOC Player of the Year, she isn’t attending KCU to build upon her personal accolades.

“I just want to get better and be apart of the team,” Redding said. “They are known for winning national championships and I want to be apart of that.”

Regardless of her lack of desire to achieve personal accolades, Redding was also selected to the First-Team Associated Press and Coaches All-District teams. However, during her freshman year, Redding is focused on work ethic and team success.

“By the end of the year, if I’ve worked as hard as I can, if I’ve improved and given everything I’ve got, then I’ll be happy,” Redding said. “But it all goes back to the team, it’s not all about me. If I’ve improved, it would make me feel accomplished but if the team has a successful year, then I will be ecstatic.”

Despite her desire to work on her own abilities, Redding also knows the game is suppose to be enjoyable.

“If you’re playing basketball, then you love to compete,” Redding said. “It’s all about having fun. It feels great to win, and sometimes you lose and it feels crappy, but if you enjoy the sport you’re playing, that’s all that matters.”

Redding knows her success on and off the court wouldn’t be possible without positive influences in her life.

“I would like to thank all my past coaches for all the work they’ve put in with me and for all the guidance they’ve given me,” Redding said. “Thank you to all my family and friends for always supporting me. Lastly, thank you to all of my fellow seniors and past teams that I’ve got to spend my basketball career so far with. I am glad I got the opportunity to grow up with all of them. Every piece of advice, every bit of support, and every practice we’ve worked hard in to achieve our goals has helped me get to where I am now.”
